How would the historian describe the music you and your friends enjoy?
Well I personally love reaggeton and songs that have rythym. A historian would probably classify it as a very rythmic and with lyrics that are not good, or understandable. Maybe very inappropriate for popular music, or it could be similar in the way that it will be the base of the music in the future.
What subjects dominate the songs?
Parties, Love (in some cases) and sexual content most of all.
Are popular songs sensational the way the ballads are?
Not really, popular songs today just base themselves mostly on having a rythm that anyone can listen to and dance to easily, and unlike ballads the lyrics are not deep or with much thought.
What inferences would the historian draw about us and our culture from the analysis of the songs and the stories they tell?
Propably if the historian based on the reaggeton or techno music that exists today. He would be astounded at the society that existed. Because it would be full of Sex, and drug inspired music and lyrics. He would probably assume that we love to be very hippielike. But it would all depend on the music that they listen in the future, which will probably be way more rythmic and illicit that it is today. Reaggeton is really a genre that I am not proud to say that I enjoy listening to, but I like it because it is easy to dance to and I love to dance. But lyrics are not at all appropriate and I believe that they should be a little less explicit in their sexual content.
